Ben Stein on Taking Stock Charchuk, Stephen Jul 29, 2008
This evening Ben Stein was on the Business News Network's show Taking Stock shown in Canada and was talking about his "documentary" Expelled. He
reaffirmed his claim that Nazis were using Darwinism to justify the genocide of the Jews and he brought up many other incorrect statements as well.

I wrote an email to the show in question to try and point out his errors. Here it is;
"I don't know how Ben Stein can critize Evolution when he doesn't even know what it actually is? It has nothing to do with how life got started, it is about the origin of species instead. It doesn't necessarily exclude a god either.

His use of Nazis is incorrect as well since evolution disproves the concept of superior and inferior races. Darwin didn't coin the phrase
"Survival of the Fittest". It was coined by an economist of the time, but when Darwin heard it he said that survival of the fittest wasn't survival of the strongest, nor of the most intelligent, but of the most responsive to change. Darwin also said;
"I see no good reasons why the views given in this volume should shock the religious sensibilities of anyone." -- Charles Darwin, The Origin Of Species, 1869.

Plus The theory of Evolution is much more than just Darwinism. It is the entire basis of modern biology as well and there is no real doubt in
the scientific community as Stein is trying to assert.

I find that all creationists are intellectually dishonest. Creationism and so-called Intelligent Design are not science, they are religion only.
So, stating that they should have it as an alternative would be the same as having astrology as an alternative to astronomy, and flat Earthism as an alternative to geology.

With people, like Stein, trying to influence education in America is it any wonder that education at the k-12 level is rank so low in comparison to other Western nations."

Here is a bit of a P.S. that I had forgotten to add;

I use to think that Ben Stein was funny. Now I think that he is just a joke.
