Hello
I'm a UK resident and therefore I don't know anything about the legal system in America. Could you please tell me if the witnesses during the Tammy Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District swore an oath on the Bible before giving their evidence. I've tried searching the court transcripts but haven't been able to find the answer. I'm writing a small piece on the
trial (for my blogg, nothing heavy) and I'm curious to find out whether Buckingham and Bonsell swore on the Bible and then went on to lie to God! If they did lie after swearing on the Bible, what does that tell us about their respect for both the Bible and God!
I hope you can help me.
All the best
Andrew

Dear Mr. Garner:
To our knowledge, swearing on the Bible by witnesses is not a common practice in USA court proceedings (except for some special circumstances). We have asked several people who were present at the Dover trial, and none of them remembers the witnesses swearing on the Bible. If we find somebody who remembers differently, we'll post such information here.
