Why is it so hard to accept that there was an actual purpose for the universe? that there is an actual purpose for humanity? And just to let you guys know... evolution has never been proved, adaptation has. Science has never created a cat out of a fly, and it never will. Of course animals are going to change according to their surroundings, and in that case only the fittest will survive. But at the same time there are many animals that wouldn't be here if they had to evolve from something else, from single celled organisms to shellfish and others. And as for the whole chaos theory. How does logic come from the illogical, how does reason come from unreasoning? Pretty silly, if you ask me. I hope that someone did read this and I also hope that someone can contact me back on this because I like to always consider both sides of the story, and I haven't really found the bottom line on this site, which is what I would like, instead of a bunch of propaganda.
Thanks,
Regina Garner of AZ

Dear Regina:
Please realize that Talk Reason is not a primer on evolution theory. There are whole libraries of books answering your questions. Your
letter reveals a lack of cognizance on your part of even the seminal concepts of evolutionary biology. How many times should a question like
that about a cat never becoming a fly be answered? You may read about it, for example, at www.talkorigins.org, or in any of the many introductory books to evolution theory - starting from the most popular ones and, if you are genuinely interested, proceeding to the more advanced. Many of them are referred to at talkorigins.org, besides the articles posted there which
also cover many aspects of evolutionary biology on various levels of sophistication, from the elementary introductions to those approaching the level of the modern highly developed evolutionary biology. After having
familiarized yourself with the actual contents of evolutionary biology, perhaps you might come back to the material posted on this site which
normally counts on readers more or less prepared to digest the contentious points discussed here (albeit still on a level not reaching the
sophistication of professional literaure on evolutionary biology found in scientific periodicals and monographs).
Regarding your rhetorical question of why its is so hard to accept the notion of "the purpose for the universe", this question is beyond science; it is your choice to either believe in such a "purpose" or deny it. It cannot be solved by scientific methods because there is no tangible evidence of such a purpose, and science can only deal with evidence.
If you think the material posted on this site "has no bottom" (in your words), we only can note that reading the material on this site is not obligatory to anybody, so perhaps you better turn to other sites, where you see the "bottom" you are looking for.
